For the Polish edition of Björk Digital, I developed and directed a unique Artist Talk in which Björk appeared live from Iceland as a real-time digital avatar. Using motion-capture technology, her movements and expressions were translated onto an on-screen presence experienced by the audience at Pop Culture Gallery in Poznań. It was the first event of its kind presented in Poland.
The conversation was moderated on site by Piotr Metz, while the concept, structure, and curatorial direction were fully developed by me. The format was designed to reflect the emotional and technological language of Björk Digital, creating an encounter where presence became fluid and intimacy was mediated through technology.
During the talk, Björk addressed themes from Vulnicura, the relationship between voice and digital embodiment, and the use of technology as a tool to amplify vulnerability. The live avatar mirrored her gestures in real time, producing a strong sense of emotional immediacy.
Positioned between interview, performance, and technological experiment, the event expanded conventional formats of artist–audience engagement. Widely covered by Polish cultural media, the Avatar Artist Talk was recognised as one of the most innovative public conversations of the season, reinforcing Pop Culture Gallery’s role as a platform for forward-looking cultural production.
